Yet another milestone met by our project and community.
We will officially be sponsoring the build of a Photogrammetry setup for use by Reef Restoration Foundation in Cairns Australia!!!
What is Photogrammetry?
Photogrammetry is the art, science, and technology of obtaining reliable information about physical objects and the environment through processes of recording, measuring, and interpreting photographic images and patterns of recorded radiant electromagnetic energy and other phenomena (Wolf and Dewitt, 2000; McGlone, 2004).
How will Reef Restoration use this new equipment?
"The equipment will be used to focus on the retention of biodiversity for resilience and adaptive capacity as the water continues to warm.
The photogrammetry will be used to measure changes to the dimensions and nature of habitat attributable to their work. The obvious complement to that is the recording of the presence and quantum of inhabitants from key functional groups, such as herbivores at all levels and browsers, grazers, and scrapers that clear the real estate for fertilized polyps after spawning, that are inhabiting their new habitat plus any spill over effect.
It makes us take a far more selective approach to species selection of the colonies we use for reef restoration." (Ryan Donnelly, Reef Restoration Foundation).
We are so happy to be sponsoring this equipment not only because it is needed for the advancement of coral conservation but to also have been sponsored by a Crypto/NFT project.
This truly shows that Crypto and NFTs have a place in the Real Life theater and can do so much good for such important things!
